AustroCel Hallein: Exploring New Horizons Together

January 2026

AustroCel Hallein is part of the Oji Group – together we are driving sustainable biomass innovations on a global scale.

With the successful closing of the acquisition by the Japanese Oji Group on January 14, 2026, AustroCel Hallein is now part of a globally active industrial group. After all regulatory approvals were obtained, the transaction was finally completed in mid-January. Oji is now the 100% owner of AustroCel Hallein.

In recent years, AustroCel has evolved from a traditional paper and pulp producer to one of Europe's most modern biorefineries. The company makes full use of wood as a material and energy source, producing advanced biofuels, bio-based performance products, platform chemicals, and innovative biomaterials, among other things. AustroCel is thus making a significant contribution to the substitution of fossil raw materials and industrial decarbonization.

With Oji, AustroCel gains a long-term, industrially strong owner who shares its strategic orientation. Together, new opportunities are opening up to scale innovations internationally and further develop the growth area of biomass.

The new ownership structure also strengthens the Hallein location and opens up additional development and career opportunities for employees. AustroCel is taking this next step in its development with responsibility, commitment, and a strong global partner at its side.
