Successful commerce
If you want to be successful in the commercial sphere, you have to think about more than just the numbers. And our numbers are pretty impressive. With its turnover of approximately 130 million euros and 300 employees, AustroCel is one of the largest and most important companies in the Tennengau region. At the bio-refinery in Hallein, up to 160,000 tonnes of viscose pulp are produced, as well as 100 GWh of district heating and 100 GWh of green electricity.
In this way, the high-tech company from Hallein doesn’t just supply its own production plant with clean energy, it also supplies 28,000 households with green electricity and 13,000 households with district heating. With the world’s largest wood-based bio-ethanol plant, AustroCel produces up to 30 million litres of second-generation bio-ethanol each year (1 percent of the consumption of petrol in Austria).
Bio-ethanol, the biofuel from Hallein, is considered particularly environmentally friendly, as it isn’t produced from feed or food, but from residual materials from the area of pulp production.
The heart of energy generation at our location is our recovery boiler, with 90 megawatts of thermal output and a steam back pressure turbine.
