THE PULP PROCESS at AustroCel Hallein
AustroCel successfully manufactures textile pulp, electricity district heating and advanced bio-ethanol. Only spruce wood – primarily sawmill residues in form of wood chips – is used as the raw material for the production. The wood comes mainly from suppliers in the local region, from the Federal Forests of Austria and from Bavaria. To produce pulp, energy and bio-ethanol from wood, a considerable amount of knowledge, experience and capable employees are necessary. In addition, process chemicals, chemicals for the waste gas purification and wastewater treatment, auxiliary materials, as well as energy wood and natural gas as additional fuels are required.
In addition to pulp production, AustroCel Hallein also carries out work in the area of IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control). This includes incinerating bio-fuels in facilities that have a rated thermal input of 50 MW or more, incinerating non-hazardous waste with a capacity that exceeds 3 tons per hour, and recovering non-hazardous waste with a capacity that exceeds 75 tons per day through biological treatment.
